Community Review Guidelines

Purpose
My Neighbors is a free community service for sharing experiences with local contractors. We publish qualifying positive and negative reviews to help neighbors make informed decisions.
Who May Post
- You must be 13+ and post only your first-hand, truthful experience.
- Disclose any material connection (owner, employee, family, vendor) or incentives (discounts, gifts, etc.).
What To Include
- Contractor name and location, date of interaction, service performed, and outcome.
- Facts you can personally verify. Opinions are welcome—state them as opinions.
What Not To Include (Removed On Sight)
- Doxxing or personal data of private individuals (home addresses, personal phone numbers, personal emails, IDs).
- Harassment, threats, hate, or discriminatory content.
- Illegal or deceptive content: extortion, fake or purchased reviews, undisclosed insider reviews, recycled reviews.
- Wrong-business reviews (posted to the incorrect listing).
- IP violations (copyrighted photos you don’t own, misuse of logos beyond identification).
Conflicts & Disclosures
Owners, employees, relatives, and vendors must clearly disclose the relationship. Incentivized reviews may be labeled.
Moderation & Transparency
- Rules apply evenly. We do not review-gate or suppress compliant negative reviews.
- We may edit to remove personal data or formatting. We do not rewrite substance.
- We may label a review “Disputed” when a business presents credible contrary evidence.
Right of Reply (For Businesses)
Every contractor may post a public response. Keep it factual and civil; no retaliation against reviewers.
Disputes & Removals
If you believe a review violates these rules or the law, use our Defamation/Privacy Complaint process. We remove content that clearly violates policy or law, or upon a valid court order or proper copyright notice.
Intellectual Property
Upload only content you own or are authorized to share. Contractor names and logos may appear for identification only and do not imply endorsement.
Not a Background Check / No Eligibility Decisions
Content on My Neighbors must not be used to determine eligibility for employment, housing, credit, or insurance.
